I started fishing at the Mangaļsala pier in Riga, catching herring, and since then, for more than thirteen years, I've been getting to know the Daugava, the Lielupe, Lake Ķīšezers and many other Latvian lakes - Alūksne, Burtnieks, Liepāja, Rāzna, Ilgājs, Durbe and Usma - in search of pike, zander and perch.
Fishing has also taken me beyond Latvia. I've competed as part of the Latvian national team - taking 3rd place at the 2018 FIPSed championships at Rutland Water in England, and competing at the 2019 World Fishing Sport Games at Loskop Dam in South Africa.
On trips I use a Volzhanka 46 boat with a 50hp Tohatsu engine, rods, reels, lures, life jackets and a Garmin Panoptix LiveScope sonar. The goal isn't just to guess where the fish might be, but to use experience, water conditions and technology to find the most promising spots.
Complete beginners are very welcome. You don't need your own fishing experience or gear- I'll help with equipment, casting, choosing lures and fishing out on the water.
And, of course, the Fish Dentist approach is simple: we find the patient, check the teeth, take a photo, and let them swim on.
