Meet Your Fish Dentist

My name is Armands, and fishing has been part of my life for more than 13 years.

My fishing story began at the Mangalsala pier in Riga, where I used to catch Baltic herring. Since then, I have explored many of Latvia’s rivers and lakes, learning how different waters, seasons, weather conditions and fish species shape every fishing experience.

Today, I organise private fishing trips in Riga and across Latvia, focusing mainly on pike, zander and perch fishing. My most familiar fishing locations around Riga include the Daugava River, Ķīšezers, Jugla Lake, the Lielupe River and Mazais Baltezers. I have also fished in Burtnieks Lake, Usma Lake, Sudala Lake, Durbe Lake, Alūksne Lake, Ilgājs Lake and Liepāja Lake.

I use both classic predator fishing techniques and modern Garmin Panoptix LiveScope technology. Depending on the conditions and the chosen fishing trip, we may cast lures, search different depths or use live sonar to locate active fish.

Fishing trips take place aboard a Volzhanka 46 fishing boat, equipped with fishing rods, reels, lures, life jackets and the essential equipment needed for a safe and enjoyable day on the water. The boat can accommodate up to four people, including me, which means each trip is suitable for a maximum of three guests.

Complete beginners are always welcome. You do not need previous fishing experience or your own equipment. I will help you prepare the tackle, explain the fishing techniques and support you throughout the trip. Catching fish is never guaranteed, but hope, patience and occasionally a little prayer are always included.

I participate in fishing competitions from time to time, but I do not describe myself as one of Latvia’s top competitive anglers. For me, fishing is not only about rankings or trophies. Preparation matters, understanding the water matters, and catching a fish is certainly exciting—but the people you meet and the time spent together on the water are just as valuable.

Why Fish Dentist?

The name Fish Dentist was created to make the brand distinctive, memorable and a little different from traditional fishing services.

Our approach is simple: we catch the fish, check its teeth, take a photo and let it return to the water. Catch and release is an important part of our fishing philosophy.

Of course, not every fish agrees to show its teeth. We cannot promise that the fish will always cooperate, but we will do everything reasonably possible to create an enjoyable and memorable fishing experience.

Fishing Trips for Beginners and Experienced Anglers

Fish Dentist trips are suitable for:

• guests interested in a relaxing boat tour or sunset trip.

Trips are available in Latvian, English and Russian. Communication in fish language is currently available at beginner level.

Safety First

Safety is always the priority on board. Life jackets and the necessary safety equipment are provided, and alcohol is not permitted during fishing trips.
